After the awesome tech shown at CES, we've decided to share our favourites with you. CES has been pretty amazing this year, and although some of the tech is rather lavishly priced, some of it is actually targeted at the consumer, so pricing is, not overly steep. So, here are our Most Wanted Tech 2011.
Apple iPad 2:
Yeah, OK, this wasn't actually shown at CES, but quite a few accessories were, and, c'mon, isn't this going to be on everybody's most wanted list?
Blackberry Playbook:
The long awaited tablet from RIM has proven it's going to be worth the wait, but will it be able to take the top spot away from Apple?
We'll soon find out when this 7inch power house goes on sale this year.
LG's 84inch Ultra Definition 3D TV:
If ever there was a way to play 3D games, watch 3D blu rays; then this is it. The massive 84inch display is Ultra Definition, meaning it produces an insanely great picture, and LG's passive 3D technology to display 3D without flicker. Best start moving the living room round...
Motorola Xoom:
We said 2011 was going to be the year of tablets, and judging by the millions shown at CES, we weren't wrong. The Xoom is the first impressive Android tablet we've seen (yes, that includes the Galaxy Tab), mainly due to the fact Android isn't suited to anything other than Smartphones. The Xoom, however,is the first we've seen sporting Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). And it impresses. A lot, infact.
Samsung Flexible AMOLED Display:
At just 4.5-inches and less than 0.33mm thick, the flexible/bendy AMOLED display sports a WVGA 800x480p resolution, and can be rolled up into a cillender just 1cm thick.
Although being reported a good five years from release, Samsung was showing a prototype of it's ambitious bit of tech as a media player. This could open up all kinds of avenue in the future, and could very well change tech as we know it all together.
Samsung TX100:
Our favourite bit of consumer tech unveiled at CES, this tablet/netbook hybrid is looking to be a great peice of kit. The 10.1-inch multitouch-capactive screen slides up to reveal a full sized keyboard. Running Windows 7 Premium, and, as we all know Windows 7 isn't the best OS for touch friendliness, Samsung has loaded the TX100 with touch optimised apps, including music, video, photo's and browser, and you'll be able to add more apps via the Samsung store. Looking to retail at around £500 and launching in (reportedly) a month or so. We just hope the Tech Beever funds hold out till then...
