The New Way To See Tech Beever On The Move

Whilst our app is still in the development phase, the only way to check up with us on your smartphone (or tablet) at the moment, is via a browser. Sure, we've got our 'mobile friendly' site; but now there's a new way!

Introducing FLUD "the modern and sexy news ecosystem". Not our words, but it is a pretty hot app.

Available now for free on iPhone and iPad (soon available on Android, so Blackberry Playbook users may get a look in too), FLUD makes viewing Tech Beever, and many other sites, nice, clean, simple and intuitive.

Simply search for an RSS Feed, then viola! You're all set!

See pictures below, and there's an embedded video to see it in action!

Download it now in the App Store iPhone | iPad

Want To Get Closer To Our Beever?

If you're a fan of socialising, and a fan of Tech Beever (which you best be!), then why not try out
The Dam; Tech Beever's new social site.

The Dam incorporates all things tech and gaming, and most importantly - it includes you!

Create your own profile, chat to other gamers, comment on posts, status', upload and share your own photos and videos, share your game collection, all for free!

Now, we know what you're thinking; "this sounds like Facebook". And you'd be right, it kinda is.
The main difference with The Dam, though, is that it's generated by you guys, and lives off your love for technology and gaming (as well as loads of other things), so if you're playing Portal 2, and want to share your new found love for Repulsion Gel, then do it, because there's bound to be
others who are equally excited by it (in a non-weird way).

The Dam is still in it's infant stage at the moment, so it may be awfully quiet for a while, so,
why not lend a hand and spread the word, get your friends and family to join!

Head over to The Dam now, and check it out =)

Tech Beever is ANGRY

Apple and Samsung law suit? Pah, that's nothing...

Well, it seems we have a problem on our hands. You know Tech Beever, your favourite online tech and gaming magazine? Well, it appears our Beever is not the only one in town.
Yesterday, we received word on a certain "Tech Beaver" that existed. Yea, in the backwash of low searches on Google, Bing and Yahoo, there lies an imposter Beever.
What this means, is they are in direct infringement of our Trademark Violation.
Deep doo-doo in other words.

But wait, there's more: Tech Beaver is a tech and gaming site...

So, not only have they almost stolen our name, but they are doing so in a style that directly affects Tech Beever as an organisation. And that doesn't make us happy.

We've contacted the said party, who we're sure meant no harm, but as always, we'll keep you posted, and send your support to our Twitter and Facebook pages!

Calling All App Developers

Tech Beever is calling all App Developers! We're looking for someone/a group of developers, to help develop an app for Tech Beever, to cover all our news on the go! iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone 7 we want it all!
If you're a developer and would like to help in the development of the Tech Beever app, contact us via the embedded form below.
The process will be (relatively) painless, consisting of 3 parts:

Part 1: Contact Us!

Part2: (Assuming you're successful) We'll reply to you asking for a CV, but, in all honesty, we just want app history, so you don't have to go typing up a full life story, just Application Development History and other skills/qualifications.

Part 3: Let's talk development! (Including fee's)

So, what are you waiting for?

Midweek, Midnews (after) Midnight

Well, it's 01:28am, and I'm just sitting down. The last few days have consisted of a little gaming, tech news research, but mostly, it's been work. Not my good job at Tech Beever that I enjoy, but my 'real' job; the job that pays the bills, the job that gives me money every month to buy tech. The job I hate.
Yep, this week, from 2:00pm to midnight, I've been/will be at work, so Tech Bever updates are a little slow. We'll be back on track (hopefully) from Friday, then, as I start next week, on the beautiful early shift, I shall be thinking of you all as I'm woken by my alarm at 4:00am.
The joys of shift work, eh?

So, what is this post exactly? A sad, depressing tale of woe from some poor schmuck who's working pattern is as off as his constantly changing sleep pattern?

No (although it seems it), this post is to remind myself that work = money. And money = tech.
Y'know, that thing Tech Beever lives off. I've got to say, my gaming has hit a wall this week, and I normally make time for gaming etc, but this week, it's been pretty tough. Add to the fact that my self deleted Pokemon Black game has pissed me off a lot, Crysis 2 playing hide-and-go-seek, and you can see why I haven't done much gaming.

So what the hell have I been playing?
Well I've had a few blasts of Bulletstorm, Killzone 3, followed with some nostalgia trips through Goldeneye, Mario 64, Blast Corps, and of course, booting up Pokemon Black in the hope my save files mysteriously re-appear. Which of course, they haven't.

Then of course, there's the things I'm looking forward to. What was at the top of the list, iPad 2, is here (not in my hands, but 'here'), so what else...

At the top of my most wanted, is the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, which I still think could be a fantastic device (we've actually got some great news on release and price for us Brits).

L.A. Noir is getting closer and closer to filling that void since Red Dead Redemption. Looking like a cross between G.T.A and Heavy Rain, it's looking mighty grand.

And you know what, that's about it. Sure there's Batman: Arkham City and Uncharted 3, but as of now, I'm happy waiting for a game, and one peice of tech, coz I sure as hell haven't got time for anything else.

Pokemon Proposition [update]

Well, the journey of our dreams has come to an end. Today, we received a response from Nintendo, and it seems our idea for a Pokemon Digital Trading Card game on iOS has been declined.

"Hello,

Although we appreciate your interest in sharing your ideas for a digital Pokemon trading card game, we are unable to pass along or accept unsolicited ideas for legal reasons. For more information, please visit the following address:

[removed for legal reasons]

Also, be sure to check our website's What's New section (http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew) regularly for all the latest information and announcements regarding our products.

Sincerely,

Shawn Ford
Nintendo of America Inc."

Is this the end of our dream? Heck no, we shall still keep fighting, so show your support and vote in the poll!

Tech Beever Good Thoughts

It's Sunday evening, it's 11:07pm, and I'm sat here, waiting, watching that clock tick. And you know what? I'm confused. Where I should be sat here, playing Pokemon Black or White, catching up on geeky retro games like Goldeneye, Super Mario 64, or some new wave shooters like Bioshock 2 or Killzone 3, on top of bringing you guys hard hitting tech news.

But no.

Instead, I'm sat here, with my fiancée asleep on my arm, my iPhone 4 buzzing as Dan Ping!s me, yet I'm content with just sitting here., doing nothing but hit these keys as letters pop up on the screen infront of me.

I suppose, in my own twisted way, I'm happy. Happy that I can sit here, doing nothing, with the option of 'dong something'. Because I count myself very fortunate. The people of Japan have endured one of the worst disasters we've seen in a good while, and our thoughts from all of us here at Tech Beever go out to those that have been effected by the disaster.

Tech Beever BrainWave: The Pokemon Proposition [update]

Well, both Apple and Nintendo have been contacted, so now we play the age old waiting game.
We really think this could work (you can read all about 'this' here(pt1) and here(pt2) if you don't know already!)
But what do you guys think? Do you want to see our Pokemon Digital Trading Card game idea on iOS? Would you be willing to buy your cards via iTunes/App Store?

As always, let us know in the comments below, and don't forget to vote on the Pokemon Proposal poll!

Tech Beever BrainWave: Part 2: The Pokemon Proposition

If you were reading yesterday, you would have witnessed the most amazing idea since man decided to put doors on walls. Yes, the Tech Beever Brainwave Pokemon Proposition. What does that entail then? Well, you can read the whole thing here, but essentially, we want Pokemon digital trading cards on iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch (not necessarily that platform, Android etc would be cool too, but Apple is the obvious choice in terms of users, iTunes, App store etc). Today, you can see yet more mock ups, this time of user interface on both iPhone and iPad.

Pressing the Pokeball will take you to the Pokemon Digital Trading Card Homescreen

From here, you can access your card collection, link up with friends to trade cards,
head online to see who's playing/trading, search for your friends, chat to people,
buy cards via in app purchase, battle with people, edit your profile,
and connect via Gamecenter and Facebook

Choosing your cards for battle brings up your chosen card, with the option to
return to your collection, or choose yes/no

The battle screen is one giant table, with your health points, card collection, attacks, energy cards, and chat and home buttons nested on the bottom,
whilst your opponents moves are brought up automatically on the top when they make a move/chose a card.

Taking your battles with you is easy, as you can easily sync your collection to your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch with ease.
This also allows you and your friends to challenge each other
or make trades wherever you are.

Well, that's part 2 of our Pokemon Proposition. We contacted Apple yesterday, so hey, you never know, the impossible might happen, and we could see our dream realised!
Want to help? Glad you do! You can vote on our poll, and when we say vote, we mean "get your friends, family, their friends, their family, their friends, their family, on behalf of your pets, their pets, their friends' pets and so on, because we need thousands of thousands of votes guys. So get on it folks!

Tech Beever BrainWave: Part 1: The Pokemon Proposition

Poke-fever has hit the Tech Beever team, but in all honesty, we genuinly feel the franchise is wasted on the DS. Don't get us wrong, we love the games, but it's not all about the RPG games, what about the trading cards?
Well, that's where Tech Beever Brainwaves comes in. You see, we've been talking it over, and, although it'll never happen, imagine a digital Pokemon trading card game on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch...

Yes, yes, we know there was a trading card game on the GameBoy Color, but stay with us. Imagine being able to buy your cards via iTunes, battling friends over GameCentre, being able to trade your cards with each other, maybe some Facebook integration, with the added luxury of scrolling through your collection Cover Flow style. We're honestly drooling at the prospect.
So much so, that we've created a few little mock-ups of what could entail. Below, you'll find our dreams of Pokemon Digital Trading Cards on iPad and iPhone 4. No in-game footage, obviously.

Our little iPhone 4 Advert, if you look close, the tittle over the 'i' is actually a Poke-ball
Well, we've copyrighted the fundamental ideas, so now we're now going to put the idea to both Apple and Nintendo, and if they care about us, they'll listen...

Yet Another Make-Over!

Well, after what feels like 4 hours (I think it's been more...) Tech Beever is back up, with a whole new look!
There are a few little niggles that need to be ironed out, but don't let them stop you looking around!
Let us know what you guys think of the new look!

Tech Beever's New Look

Well, after a long, grueling morning, Tech Beever's make-over is complete! We hope you guys like the new look; we've got a navbar for navigating around your favourite stuff, a new designed header, better social intergration, comments powered by the awesome Disqus, and more!
Let us know what you think!

Coming Soon: Tech Beever Podcasts

That's right, soon you'll be able to listen to us here at Tech Beever, ranting, reviewing and pretty much general shenanigans, all in audio format!
There will be items such as The Week In Tech, news on all thinks tech, gadgets, gaming, comics and anything else we feel we should force on your pretty ears.

Feature: The Problem With 3D

The Problem With 3D
By Callum Povey

3D is awesome, apparently, yet it's also one of the lesser successful gambles of the last two years (although it's been failing for many more). You see, my problem with 3D, is that it's an expensive investment for something that isn't quite there yet.

Don't get me wrong, the idea of playing Uncharted 3 in stereoscopic 3D is very exciting, but I'm of the impression wearing big, clunky 3D specs will ruin the immersivene nature I want.
Obviously, there are ways around this, more expensive light-weight glasses may help, but again, that's more money.

3D tv's aren't cheap, but if I'm seeing 3D images, I don't want the sides of my tv ruining the show. But, again, I can't afford a 60+ inch 3D tv.

Woah! It's Coming Right At Me! Oh, No It Isn't...
You could say, "well, get a HD 3D projector, producing pictures upto 108-inch or so", but again, very expensive. And add to that, some projectors don't accept the PS3 as 3D.

Then there's glasses free 3D, like the Nintendo 3DS. Great, I don't have to wear glasses, but I also cannot move for fear of the 3DS losing the 3D image it's producing, plus I'm told by Nintendo not to play for more than 30 minutes.

No Glasses Also Means No Sales...

With companies like Sky and Virgin offering 3D movies, Sony cleverly making the PS3 3D enabled (then releasing the update alongside it's own brand of 3D TV's), it's pretty clear that 3D is something that will soon become as standard as HD, and the quality will have risen dramatically.
But if Toshiba's glasses free TVisn't selling in Japan, the land of tech, what makes them think it'll succeed in the western side of the world?
I'm one of many, who wants to embrace 3D, but the quality and price is something to be desired.

New look, still angry
Tech Beever has had another make-over, and this time, the beloved face of Tech Beever, the Beever himself, has too had an overhaul. We were pretty surprised to wake up and find the new look Beever sat drinking coffee, but as he put down his cup and began throwing stones at the local hoodlums, we realised he was still the same Beever on the inside...

Tech Beever's New Look

Well, after a lot of deliberating, we've had a make-over!
Gone is the dark themed Beever of before, in is the bright, highlighted new Beever, complete with new logo!
Let us know what you think, we're currently working on new designs, so bear with us!

Tech Beever Number 1 on Pingy

Yes, we hadn't heard of Pingy either. But now we know, we're very grateful to the number of people who 'pinged' us, putting us at the top of this Web Master Tool, thus sending more people our way =)

You Know You've Made It When You're On Pingy. Apparently
