Asus Eee Pad Transformer: UK Release and Pricing

Our number 1 wanted (well, mine anyway) peice of tech, is the Asus Eee Pad Transformer; the Honeycomb toting 10.1- inch tablet, that also (transforms) into a fully fledged laptop via a genious keyboard dock (sold separately).
You can pre-order the hybrid device via Amazon UK, with the official release date of April 18th. Want some pricing?

The 16GB version will run you £379, but if you add the keyboard, it'll bump upto (a still respectful) £429.

The 32GB version will set you back £429, but without the dock, which you must add separately.

You may agree, that it's a pretty good price for a Honeycomb toting, 10.1- inch tablet, and if you're interested, check out full specs and pics here. We're pretty impressed with the Transformer, the thing is a beast, and could be just the tablet to take on the iPad. It might not win, but it’ll give it a damn good run.

    New Laptop Shopping

Well, firstly, I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop, and so far, Sony Vaio gets my vote. Obviously, price is a biggie; they're not cheap, and specs are second to none when making a choice. Duel core processors take a big leap up (gotta have that power), whilst strangely, I'm not feeling the need for bluray, something that surprises me. The MacBook Air is mighty tempting, but at the pricetag, it should be able to cope with the daily tasks it'll be used for, along with the ability to wash the car, clean the house and poop million pound notes.
The Alienware M11X too looks tempting (even moreso with the little price drop) but the basic spec model is still steep considering I'll have to upgrade most parts to gain the benefit. So yeah, the Sony Vaio...
Eyeing up the nice £549 model, and looks are instantly making me drool; the nice White finish, chiclet keyboard are pretty sublime.
Then the specs make an appearance:

SONY VAIO VPCEA3M1E/W.CEK - White"The Sony VAIO VPCEA3M1E/W.CEK is powered by the Intel® Core™ i3-370M Processor and comes with a 64-bit version of Windows® 7 Home Premium operating system pre-installed. This chic white laptop has 4GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive, offering plenty of multi-tasking speed and storage space for all your multi-media needs.

The Sony VAIO VPCEA3M1E/W.CEK notebook's 14" High Definition VAIO display is bright and vibrant, with a 16:9 aspect ratio that makes it ideal for viewing widescreen movies in fullscreen mode. Video performance is driven by CPU-integrated Intel® HD Graphics, which easily deliver smooth playback of Full HD content as well as being more energy efficient than previous integrated solutions.

The VAIO VPCEA3M1E/W.CEK laptop boasts a full complement of connectivity options, including built-in Wireless-N WiFi, Bluetooth support, three USB 2.0 ports, a hybrid USB/eSATA port and SD Card and Memory Stick slots, as well as HDMI and VGA connectors for external displays. A 34mm ExpressCard slot gives you scope to add extra functionality in the future."
    (spec sheet- PCworld)

Not the worst spec sheet for a sub £600 laptop (but not super fast either) but for what it'll be used for (Tech Beever) it'll do just grand, and it'll look damn good doing it.

My trusty Toshiba Satalite has done well; bogged down with programmes, games, media, and, well, I'm pretty sick of it to be fair. So, over the next few months, i shall be scanning the net for my laptop replacement (up to now, the Sony Vaio has my money) but if you'd like to recommend anything, let me know!
