X-Men: First Class: It's Just Plain Wrong! (video)

With X-Men: First Class heading to Blu-Ray and DVD September 9, IGN have made, well, a video that shows us just how wrong First Class really is (in a chronological sense).

We're big comic fans, but even we missed a few tricks!

Batman: Year One Trailer

As confirmed by Comics Continuum, a future film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies series will be an adaptation of Frank Miller's story "Batman: Year One" from 1987 in the main Batman title, featured in issues #404–407.

It will be co-directed by Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery.

Benjamin McKenzie has been cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Bryan Cranston as James Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Catwoman and Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Essen.

An "unrated" Catwoman short will also be included with the DVD and Bluray, which will be out September 11, so it gives you time to get all excited for Arkham City in October.

Alot of games have made their way back into the charts, Uncharted 2 hasn't actually left since it made it's way in there all that time ago- maybe when Drakes Deception is released, it'll bump it's predecessor from the chart. Whilst the Samsung TX100 tablet/netbook hybrid shoots its way right to the top of my Most Wanted.

Scott Pilgrim VS The World Blu Ray Review

The Start of Awesomeness
Before the movie, there were 6 graphic novels that kept geeks and comic lovers alike entertained with the fantastic "8-bit" themed Scott Pilgrim. The film, Scott Pilgrim VS The World (actually the title of the second book) is based on the 6 book series (albeit not following them fully, obviously as the film is just 112 minutes long).

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is an unemployed 23-year-old bass guitarist in an up-and-coming garage rock band, Sex Bob-Omb, who is dating a cute 17-year-old high school girl, Knives Chau (Ellen Wong). He is having fun in life and rolling along at a nice even tempo until one day Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) roller-blades into his life. Ramona moved to Toronto from New York City to find peace and quiet and leave her past behind. No one knows what her past is, but Scott will find out very soon as he tries to make Ramona his new girlfriend. Before Scott can begin dating Ramona, he must prove himself by defeating the league of her seven exes who controls her love life. They will do anything to get rid of and destroy any new boyfriend Ramona may consider. If Scott wants to find true love with Ramona, he must defeat all seven.
As far as special effects are concerned, Scott Pilgrim is packed of the stuff. The whole "comic" feel really comes off well, and the fight scenes are some of the best in a while. But what really makes the film (other than the great story, awesome soundtrack, cleverly written script) are the actors.
The cast is excellently picked, with Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead bringing the characters of Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers to life with little ease, seemingly perfect for the parts respectivly.

But it's Kieran Culkin who steals the film, playing Scott's "cool gay roomate" Wallace Wells. Kieran is funny, egotistical and ludicrously homo erotic in his portrail of Wallace; exactly as he is in the books. Knives Chau, Scott's 17 year old schoolgirl girlfriend, is brilliantly played by Ellen Wong, who captures the excited, smitten and downright crazy feeling of said character from the books.

Kieran Culkin (far left) as Wallace Wells, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona and Michael Cera as Scott

Although I feel the film should have been made into different movies, as to follow the books more closely, the film does a great job of bringing said books to life; the comic style "pop outs" that occur when the phone rings, or the zany Manga inspired emotion effects (those who have read the series will understand the "pop outs").

As mentioned, the fight scenes are very well presented, and truely give the film it's comic book feeling, each ending with Scott earning EXP and coins (very cool).

In a nutshell, Scott Pilgrim VS The World is a remarkable film, but, the in your face, video game feel and seemingly fast pace of the movie will not appeal to everyone (but if you're like us, you'll be too busy LOVING it to care), but for those that allow themselves to get sucked into the genuinely honest, downright geek esque affair, then Scott Pilgrim VS The World is deffinatley worth a look.

Scott Pilgrim VS The World Blu Ray- BD Live Edition

As a massive Scott Pilgrim fan, getting the Blu Ray was just going to happen. However, the BD Live inclusion was a complete and utter bonus. If you're unaware, BD Live (currently only available as certain movies) is basically extras that you would find as editions to your movie, however, the vast features are far greater than regular goodies;

Automatic firmware updates
Checking each time the device is switched on to see if it has been tampered with and reporting issues

Internet chats

Scheduled chats with the director

Internet games

Downloadable featurettes

Downloadable quizzes and downloadable movie trailers.

The bad news?
You need an internet (preferably Wi-Fi) connected Blu Ray Player (not a Bonus View Player) or PS3.

Got an internet connected Blu Ray Player or PS3? Got an iPhone/iPod Touch with Wi-Fi? Then download the free BD Live app, and use your device as a remote, or, if you really want to show off, stream/download movies straight to your device, unlock hidden extras contained in the movie, and watch trailers.

BD Live really is the future of Blu Ray, and you'd be wise getting in on the action.

Oh, and if the post title was a tad missleading, you can get more on Scott Pilgrim in the Blu Ray review which will be up asap.
